PREPARING FOR SHORT-TERM MISSIONS

It is an honor and privilege to be called to serve God in building His Kingdom around the world. With this privilege comes a great responsibility to prepare oneself for this ministry. Following are some strategic things you can work on in preparing for a short-term mission.

Be Engaged – Your cross-cultural ministry is an outflow of your ministry here in the Fullerton church. If you are not already engaged in ministry in our church or community we have many fresh opportunities for you to use your gifts and passions in building God's kingdom locally.

Be in Prayer – Participating in a short-term mission team is a stretch of your faith. The physical, emotional and spiritual demands of travel, teamwork, support building and preparation are not easy. Listen to God's leading in your life if this is the year. Prayerfully look over the opportunities the church offers. If none seems to really fit you, other opportunities may also be available in the Missions office.

Church Membership – Because short-term team members are sent from this church to represent the Lord Jesus Christ and share the gospel message, all short-term applicants are asked to attend the Membership Class and go through the membership process. To register for a class, please email your name, address and phone number to .

Passport – It is important for the Missions office to have a copy of individual passports as soon as possible to make travel arrangements for each team. Having a current passport is always a good idea! Passport applications are available in the Missions office and at the main post offices in Fullerton and Brea. You may also download the passport application at: www.state.gov.

Short Term Missions Applications and Training – Applicants apply online and then are interviewed by the team leader and a Missions Board member. Teams are selected based on "fit" for the mission, past church involvement and a heart prepared to serve. Team trainings will be held April 28 and May 5. Commissioning is June 9.
