Missionaries in Training

Are you a missionary or moving in that direction?
If so, we invite your involvement in an exciting program created just for you: Missionaries in Training (MIT).

For Prospective Missionaries
MIT will help you assess your calling to missions, keeping you focused on what lies ahead as a cross-cultural representative of Jesus Christ. It will help you to network with others in the church who share a similar vision, thus providing encouragement and motivation to keep you moving ahead in your quest for whatever God has in store for you in ministry.

You will also meet some contemporary heroes of the faith as they mingle with us and share their stories of God's guidance and provision.

Involvement in this program is an important step in gaining the church's backing as you move forward. It allows us to get to know you and thus be able to represent your eligibility for financial support before the Missions Board.

For Current Missionaries
The MIT leadership team invites you to participate in monthly gatherings and related activities, believing that our prospective missionaries can gain much from their exposure to those who have "been there, done that."

Sharing your experiences in an up-close-and-personal setting is bound to have a profound and lasting impact upon those considering missions as a career.

Mentoring and interaction with career missionaries also affords the Missionary in Training a realistic look at both your mission organization and field of ministry.

Monthly Gatherings
MIT meets throughout the year on the second Sunday of each month.

Presentations are made by missionaries, mission executives and church leaders. Unlike traditional missionary reports, these presentations are based on assigned topics of specific interest and/or current needs of the MIT participants.

Some recent examples: Pastoral Care of Missionaries; Avoiding and Resolving Personal Conflict; Adjusting to a New Culture; Singleness and Marriage on the Field; Ministry and Family Life in a Creative Access Nation; Current Trends in Missions; Raising Missionary Support.
